Story Book Dining with Snow White

Late last week, we made a last minute decision to do a character dining dinner for Valentine's Day at Walt Disney World. Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White struck our fancy, but the only available reservation was at 9:00 PM: much too late for two children. To find a better dining time, we setup a Walt Disney World dining alert using the free system on this very site.

On the same day, the system returned with a notification that a 4:30 PM reservation was found. I quickly logged into the dining reservation system on the Disney World website and secured the reservation! Plans were now set. On Friday afternoon, we headed on down to Disney World against the Friday Orlando traffic. We had no problems parking at the Wilderness Lodge after showing security our dinner reservation and our ID.

After arriving at the resort, we headed over to the hostess stand to check-in. Within 10 minutes, we were alerted that our time was ready it was time to dine within the enchanted forest. A meal at Story Book dining is a full experience with three courses of food for a fixed price: $67 per adult and $41 per child. The appetizer and dessert courses are fixed, but you get to choose from several selections for the main entrée.

Beverage wise, Coca-Cola products are included in the price while specialty cocktails, beer, wine and mocktails can be added to the bill.

Throughout the meal, Snow White, who was accompanied by Prince Charming, Grumpy, Dopey, and the Queen make appearances, perform dances (see the videos at the bottom!), and visit each table. Compared to some other character dining experiences at Disney World, the characters visited tables more often, not shunning tables because they had been visited previously.

During the middle of dinner, the Queen made her presence known with a special introduction. Instead of visiting individual tables, each table was invited to personally come up and meet the Queen. A PhotoPass photographer was there to capture the experience with the one who thinks they are the fairest of them all.

The Food

Allergy friendly appetizers for the kids consisted on cheese and vegetables platters. For the adults, the appetizers were "Smoky Mushroom Bisque" soup, "Hunter's Harvest", which were like turkey & chicken meatballs, and the "Wicked Shrimp Cocktail" salad.

For the entrée, we both chose the "Royal Prime Rib Roast" with horseradish mashed potatoes, carrots, & jus. Kids also get the choice of prime rib, or from the selections of grilled chicken, grilled fish of the day (it was salmon), and chicken strips. Two side selections can be made from roasted potatoes, carrots, broccoli, mashed potatoes, and mac-and-cheese. They were also flexible to allow the choice of three sides instead of selecting an entree.

For final course, a colorful dessert selection is provided. A selection of dye-free options were provided for the kids with fresh fruit. For the adults, the selection provided "Miner's Treasures" with chocolate gems, the "Fairy Tale Gooseberry Tart" with meringue, and a couple of "Poison" apples filled with dark chocolate mousse. A special dark chocolate heart was also served out of a themed chest.
